I love how God created the world with such a wide variety of elements. It’s as if each piece of creation reflected a part of God.

The depths of the ocean and heights of the sky instantly reminds us of how vast and great the Creator is.

The infinite variety of living organisms on the earth tell me our God loves variety and has an unending resource of creativity – that there is always something new to learn about God, always something fascinating in the way everything works together in the ecosystem. Today we pride ourselves with science and some scientists think that because they can explain everything with science that they have disproved the existence of God. How foolish! How ignorant and naive. God spoke – and all this came into being. Before creation, all scientists have is a hypothesis of what existed. Can any scientist in this world “create” life?

The seasons and cycle of life and death remind us there is a time for everything and that God is a God of order. Nothing can thwart God’s plan. Who is able to make winter summer or summer winter?

The sheer tenacity of tsunamis, hurricanes and earthquakes demonstrate the power and strength of God. Which army in the world can fight against mother nature’s forces?

Our family relationships, the bond between parents and their children, let’s me know this is the intimacy and unconditional commitment and love my Father has to me. This is the true joy and richness my soul craves. Without this everything else is worthless – no money or treasure compares to Jesus. Jesus said,

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:44-45.

It’s no wonder the writer of Psalm 148 wrote this psalm to God:

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away. Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and women, old men and children. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the Lord.”
