For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

When we see evil and injustice in the world, we sometimes react by fighting against such evil and wrong-doing. But there will also be times when we are provoked or tempted to do just the same evil. A man who was wrongly offended by someone may be provoked into repaying that evil with evil – to get even. A person who witnesses a bribe or theft, may be tempted to do just the same – so as not to lose out on a good opportunity.

We are exposed to these conflicts on a daily basis. And it takes great integrity not to be provoked or tempted to do evil when evil surrounds us. However, it is not something we can do with our own might for we will fail. Our flesh is weak. Therefore we do not rely on our own flesh to resist evil. But we rely and call upon the name of Jesus Christ to save us, provide a way out and to redeem the wrong. Jesus Christ is the Redeemer. With the assurance that all wrongs we suffer here will be redeemed, and the knowledge that no evil act goes unnoticed by God, we are humbled and are given peace.

The evil one will try to tempt us to resort to evil tactics or ungodly ways to maneuver through the injustice and wrongs in this world, but sometimes the battle is spiritual and cannot be fought with the flesh or by worldly means.

Lord, I recognize that the battles and the war is not fought by my flesh but by your Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, may you strengthen my spirit, may you lift my mind and my vision beyond the flesh and the physical appearances of things – so that i may see the spiritual forces of evil that i am dealing with. And may you come quickly to my help Lord, may i have the authority in your name, Jesus Christ, to conquer and rise above all that comes against me.
