“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25
It is wise advice for us to meet up regularly with fellow believers to keep us grounded and motivated in the faith. Someone once said, many start well, but few finish well. It’s a good warning and reminder that as promising as we may start off, a lack of constant care and attention can bring the initial good start to nothing. We need the counsel and fellowship of other believers to check our blind spots, to help us see things from a different perspective. To be with us in our struggles, to listen, to comfort, to give hope and prayer.
All this is not just so that we can get through tough times, but also to keep us sharp during times of abundance and to keep us accountable to God.
Lord God, may i keep good fellowship and counsel with my brothers and sisters. May Your Holy Spirit guide me into healthy and mutually strengthening relationships. May friendship take on a whole new meaning with You at the centre of it all.
