There is nothing more challenging to the average Christian of the first world than to see his Christian brother and sister in another place being persecuted for their faith and killed.
There is a verse in scripture that says: “In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” Hebrews 12:4
Many Christians like me living in the first world have never experienced persecution close to that. It seems even incomprehensible that there could still be persecution as that seen in scripture.
And so that words of Jesus live on: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.“ John 15:24
Father Lord, I pray that your angel armies are with my brothers and sisters now as they face intense hatred and persecution. Protect them Lord and open up the minds of their enemies to see their sins. Cover your children in your strong arms, deliver them from evil and save them from their enemies.
