Moving mountains

5 July 2014

We are often told by people or by our own voice that we will not be able to achieve certain things in life. That there are certain limitations to what we can dare to dream or dare to challenge. Whether it is because of our background, education, location or any other reason – legitimate or not, we may eventually resolve ourselves to the status quo or something less than what we really desire.

But our God is not such a God. Our God never tells us we cannot do something we desire because we have limitations. Because our God is the God who will move mountains for us and will make the impossible, possible. He desires the very best for us and although that may not always look like what we desire, we are never told by Him not to dream or not to dare to seek. In fact, He says to us:

“Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone who asks receives; and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7,8.

Let us never back down from asking God to move what may look like mountains for us. Many of these mountains have been created in our minds and God will undo such barriers. It’s not about the strength of our faith in God that will move the mountains – it’s about the God we serve that will move mountains for us when we ask correctly. It may take time and it may be because God needs to equip us correctly first, but i believe God never ignores us when we ask sincerely for something good.

Father Lord, may my heart be purified and clean before you, may you seek out my motives and may my requests and desires be from you and not the world. May you put your desires for me in my heart so that i may speak and ask for the things that you have already prepared and desired for me to have. May i walk in the boldness of a lion with the confidence that you are my God who will move the mountains for me.
