Many of us love watching movies with a hero involved. Almost every story told has one involved. I think deep in our heart and soul desire is for a hero to save us and also for ourselves to be a hero for someone else.
And so it is with Jesus Christ, who came to save every single person that was, is and is to be. He is the Hero of heroes. And it is also in Jesus that we satisfy our heart and soul desire to be saved by a hero and also to become a hero for someone else.
Salvation in Christ is only the first step, but scripture tells us we are also to do likewise as Jesus. In doing this, we complete our desire to be saved and to save. I only pray that this desire to be a hero will burn brighter and stronger as the years go by.
Isaiah 58:6-9: “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”
Lord Jesus, you are the Hero of heros, and my personal hero. I pray that like this verse in Isaiah, i will be a hero to the oppressed, the hungry and the naked. I will burn with righteousness in setting the oppressed free from their yoke and loosen the chains of injustice. May your Spirit burn in my heart and soul.
