Psalm 127

10 April 2014

Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain.

It is the Lord that establishes success and failure and nothing will last which is not blessed by God.

Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.

Protection comes from the Lord and not by the might and numbers of men. Today we build armies and weapons, storing up supplies and readiness for war, believing we are safe and superior, only to realize that the Lord can wipe out everything overnight.

In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves.

We run hectic and busy lives. We are tossed into the fast-paced and demanding realities of the work place. We believe we accomplish a lot, but our toils do not give us what is most needed – a good sleep and healthy life. We have traded the joy of life for evil, but the Lord will redeem and grant rest to those he loves.
